Yeonjin Kim

Korean Cellist Yeonjin Kim has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the National Repertory, U of Michigan Philharmonic, the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, U of Michigan Wind Ensemble, as well as the Seoul Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Kim’s multiple prizes and awards include the Sorantin International competition, Austria’s Dichler-Sato competition, Japan’s Viva Hall competition, and the Korean Philharmonic Orchestra Competition.  Her live performances have been broadcasted by many classical radio stations in America, Korea and Japan.

She has appeared as a chamber musician in Europe, Asia and United States. Highlights include an invitation from the Isaac Stern’s Quartet Program as a member of the Quartet La-Mer. She also has performed at the Kennedy Center’s Millenniums Stage, Aspen Music Festival, Austrian Vienna Music Seminar, Switzerland Sion Music Academy, and the Japan Miyazaki Music Festival. As an orchestra player, Ms. Kim has served as a principal cellist of the National Repertory Orchestra and Seoul Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and assistant-principal of the Asian Youth Orchestra.

Yeonjin Kim graduated from Seoul National University with a BM in Korea and moved to Japan to study at Toho Gakuen with Ko Iwasaki. She continued her studies with Richard Aaron at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Michigan where she completed her MM and DMA.
